Doctors initiate 93 percent of discussions about taking cholesterol and blood pressure drugs, but may be reluctant to discuss the downsides of these treatments, found a survey sponsored by Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making. Moreover, doctors don’t always ask for a patient’s opinion; only 41 percent did when speaking with patients about blood pressure medication. Always ask about potential side effects to a treatment and tell your doctor how you’re feeling. A good doctor will work with you to find the best course of treatment.
