Researchers suspect that a Vitamin D deficiency may be to blame for an increased risk of high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes, all factors that amplify a woman's risk for heart disease. Ten minutes a day of sunlight is usually enough for your body to produce adequate Vitamin D, known as the "sunshine vitamin." If getting sun exposure isn't possible, take a supplement after clearing it with your doctor.
