Once your doctor gives you the O.K., it's important to begin exercising after a heart attack-and stick with it. Researchers in a Swiss study found that blood vessel functioning in those who survived a heart attack improved within four weeks of starting an exercise program, but those same improvements disappeared once the subject stopped exercising. Experiment with different types of exercise to find what you like best.
