Daily Weigh-Ins Help Prevent Weight Gain

If you have recently lost weight and are looking to keep it off, don't avoid the scale. A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that people who weighed themselves daily were less likely to gain weight back than those who read a newsletter about diet and exercise. Over 18 months, half of the people monitoring their weight regularly had avoided weight gain, while 72 percent of those who didn't gained back five pounds or more. The average participant had lost 40 pounds over two years at the start of the study.
