Drink a Glass of Water Before Eating


Drink a tall glass of water before every meal to feel full faster, says Dr. Louis Arrone, weight-loss expert and author of The Skinny on Losing Weight Without Being Hungry. He finds that lack of satiety is the biggest struggle his patients have with losing weight. In addition to water, Dr. Arrone says starting each meal with a small salad is also helpful and advises patients eat as many raw or cooked veggies (without butter) as they can for snacks and with meals. Another important tip: Pass on the bread basket. Starting a meal with bread can cause you to overeat, he says.

Very good idea indeed. I'd also recommend eating something like a carrot or couple of sticks of celery before a meal. Also, try to eat slowly.

I do this all of the time. I

I do this all of the time. I am really conscious of doing this when I go out to eat. I try to drink a glass of water before I even order. It helps me make healthier choices because my stomach feels full. I have found that by eating healthier and losing weight it has been a great treatment for heartburn.  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

This is great! I totally agree. When I go out to eat, I order water and do find myself feeling full and more healthy while looking at the menu. If I do, on the rare ocassion order a soda I make sure that I eat a salad. It always makes me feel better for some reason!

I think so many people go out

I think so many people go out and spend exorbitant amounts of money to try to loose weight when there are many simple things they could be doing to effectively loose the weight. The tips given here alone would do wonders for most overweight people. Drinking a glass of water before a meal is an overlooked but effective method for feeling fuller and eating less. Thanks for the great information.
