Eat Blue Corn Chips Instead of White

If you're going to indulge in nacho chips, reach for baked blue chips over fried white corn ones. Researchers in Mexico found that these chips have 20 percent more protein and 9 percent less starch than those made with white corn, which makes them lower on the glycemic index scale. Foods that are lower on the glycemic index keep blood sugar levels steady. Just skip the cheese, and go heavier on the heart healthy salsa or guacamole.
