You've probably heard about the health benefits of a Mediterranean diet and now there's even more proof it's good for your heart: The Nurses Health Study found that women who followed a Mediterranean diet had a 29 percent reduced risk of heart disease and a 13 percent reduced risk of stroke. Opt for olive oil, beans, nuts, whole grains and fish in place of butter, red meat and simple carbohydrates like white bread or crackers.
