When one spouse has risk factors for heart disease, the other is more likely to have them too. A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology found that if one spouse has high blood pressure, cholesterol, smokes or is obese, the other is at higher risk to have these risk factors. Researchers suspect this is due to similar lifestyle and diet. Encourage your husband to live a healthier lifestyle; instead of dessert, suggest a post-dinner walk.
