Larry King Cardiac Foundation Heart Screenings in Washington, D.C.
Sister to Sister, in partnership with the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, hosted a heart health fair on Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 11:00am to 2:00pm on the grounds of George Washington University Hospital. The fair was held under an outdoor tent at 2301 I St N.W., at the entrance to the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station.
Free heart health screenings included:
- Blood pressure
- Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Waist circumference
- Total Cholesterol, HDL and LDL levels
- Blood glucose
- Triglycerides
This is the second year in which Larry King hosted a panel discussion and free heart-health screenings at George Washington University Hospital. The panel featured industry experts in the fields of cardiac care, medicine, government, and health insurance.
The mission of the Larry King Cardiac Foundation is to provide funding for life saving cardiac procedures for individuals who, due to limited means and no insurance, would be otherwise unable to receive life saving treatment.
We would like to thank Inverness Medical for supporting this event through their donation of the blood screening cassettes.
