Exercise improves your heart health by lowering your blood pressure and helping you maintain a healthy weight. Walking is one of the easiest ways to start exercising. It's free, it can be done with friends, and just 30 minutes a day can make an amazing difference in your health. You don't even have to do all 30 minutes at once. Taking several small walks for ten or fifteen minutes each will also help you on your journey to a healthy heart. Try bike riding, gardening, skating, and dancing.

Middle-aged women, in particular, can benefits from weight-bearing activities, which keep their bones healthier. Good weight-bearing activities, including walking, running, lifting hand weights, and carrying groceries. Activities like yoga and t'ai chi promote flexibility and balance.
