Apple Cinnamon Water Benefits
Looking for a new drink to boost your metabolism and help your body burn more calories? Apple cinnamon water might be just what you’re looking for.
Losing fat and getting a lean, sculpted body really has just as much to do with diet a it does with exercise. And my number one diet tip is to eat more foods that help you burn off more calories. It’s an easy answer, and an easy way to lose more fat without removing more from your diet.
What are the Benefits of Apple Cinnamon Water?
Water – First, drinking water is always a better option than drinking sugary juices and sodas. Water is also better than sports drinks, which come with their fair share of calories and sugars. Remember, when all that sugar isn’t used up, it’s converted into fat and stored in your body.
Water is also a natural detox and one of the best ways to support daily energy. In fact, dehydration during an intense workout is one on the biggest reasons for exhaustion and fatigue. For more information, see my article on Water and Weight Loss.
The basic ingredient in this fat-burning drink is water, so you’re already off to a good start.
Apples – if you’re trying to lose weight, apples are one of the best fruits you can eat. They’re high in fiber, especially pectin, a soluble fiber that helps promote good digestive health and a sense of fullness. Apples also have a high water content and contain many organic compounds and vitamins that boost your overall health. They’re a great detox food on their own.
Cinnamon – Cinnamon might just be the best natural ingredient there is for weight loss. It contains natural thermogenic properties, which means it will rev up your metabolism and burn a ton of calories in the process. This is true of many spices, especially ones that come with a little heat.
Now to bring these three ingredients together…
Apple Cinnamon Water Recipe
It’s pretty simple really, and just as the name suggests. To make 4 tall glasses worth, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- about half a gallon of filtered water (or one pitcher)
- 2 whole apples (gala or red delicious work well, but you can use more tart apples if you prefer)
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Peel and core one of the apples and cut into quarter inch thick pieces. Place the apple slices in a mixing bowl and using a large spoon or press, mash the apple slices, getting out as much juice as possible. Add this juice to the water in a larger pitcher, along with the cinnamon, and mix well.
Core the second apple but leave the skin on. Slice and dice into small pieces, and add these pieces of apple to the water. Mix again, chill, and enjoy!
For Added Benefits
To boost this drink’s fat burning ability, add a squeeze of fresh lemon or some raspberries. Both contain fat burning properties of their own.
