Eat Mushrooms as a Beef Substitute


Consider substituting mushrooms for beef in your favorite lasagna, sloppy joe, or chili recipes. Preliminary research from the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center found that participants who ate mushroom lunch entrees downed 420 fewer calories on average than those who ate beef entrees. The fungi seem to be just as filling as beef but contain considerably fewer calories.
